Where and How To Reach Yuksom
Embark on one of the most scenic drives in the Himalayas as you follow the meandering Teesta and Rangeet rivers to the charming village of Yuksom in West Sikkim. Leaving Bagdogra or New Jalpaiguri railway station, the journey takes you through winding mountain roads with breathtaking views. The deep gorges of the Teesta River keep the excitement alive, while playful monkeys on the roadside add a delightful touch. The drive passes through Jorethang, the last major town where you can stock up on any essentials. Along the way, vibrant monasteries and fluttering prayer flags create a serene and spiritual ambiance, setting the tone for your adventure. One of the most rewarding and longer days of the trek, the journey begins with a steep ascent from Tshokha to Phedang, nearing the tree line. After a well-deserved rest at Phedang, we resume the climb to Devrali Top, where the majestic Kanchenjunga reveals itself for the first time. From Devrali Top, a gentle descent followed by an easy walk leads us to Dzongri – the sacred meeting place of the Gods

This is perhaps the best time to do the Dzongrti La trek. As the receding winter makes way for bearable and comfortable weather, it also provides suitable grassland for new life to blossom. While the land is beautified by an array of tiny colourful flowers, the rhododendrons and magnolias dominate the forest cover hovered over by blue sky.
