I can't speak highly enough about my experience with Himalayan High. My wife and I wanted to do the Har Ki Dun trek but didn't want to be part of one of the many larger trips most trekking companies plan. I reached out to Himalayan High about the "self guided option" they listed on their website and ended up getting a totally bespoke trip for just my wife and I. Planning and communication was excellent leading up to the trip ( thanks Suman!) and our guides (required in a national park) were incredibly knowledgeable and friendly, not to mention great cooks. We are already thinking about our next Himalayan trek and will definitely be working with Himalayan High.

We did a recent Sandakphu trek with Hinalayan High. Few months before the trip, inquiries made to the company were promptly replied by Mr Suman. He also offered different options that would fit our fitness level and schedule. Our many questions and concerns were addressed to enable us to decide on the itinerary that suited us. There was also transparency in the costs and added fees. We opted for private trek so that we could go at our own pace. The lodging arrangements were made with our needs taken into consideration. (We preferred private rooms, being both ladies). While we did not expect 3-4* star hotel accommodations, the rooms were comfortable enough with sufficient blankets to keep us warm at night. We were prepared for shared bathroom facilities in a couple of homestays, having experienced so in previous treks. Due to health issues, we were not able to do the original long trek. But in exchange, our altered trek itinerary gave us unexpected blessings, additional day at Sandakphu to marvel at the scenery and catch glimpse of Everest on clear mornings. The alternative trek led us to a relatively new and clean Homestay with ensuite rooms down at Gurdum. It was situated at a picturesque spot with sunrise view from our room. There was even hot water available for a good bath after few days of trek. What luxury! Food by the homestay host was also delicious - fried noodles, and dumplings, with their home-made chilli paste. The stay was so wonderful that we chose to stay an additional day. It certainly exceeded our expectations. We are thankful to our guide, G.D. for his thoughtfulness. He prioritised our safety, ensured that we were comfortable and well fed. Mr Raju of the trekking company also checked in on us a few times to ensure that we were alright especially at Sandakphu. We are also grateful in the quick adaptation of itinerary to make the trek more manageable for us. We had a good laugh when we learnt from other trekkers further on the route that they had heard about the group who had to alter trek route due to health reasons....how news passed, but also shows the connectedness of the trekking community in that area. What we also enjoyed were the opportunities to get to know the people and hear about the history of the places we visited. Their love for the land and passion in what they do certainly came through in the conversations with G.D. and Mr Suman. Will certainly recommend Himalayan High to my friends.

We had an unforgettable experience trekking in Sikkim with Himalayan High!! From start to finish, everything was impeccably organized, and each member of the team went above and beyond to make our journey up to Dzongri La truly memorable. Special thanks to Suman, the organizer, for ensuring that every detail was thought through, and to our trek leaders Raju and Durga, whose expertise, warmth, and patience made us feel safe and cared for every step of the way. The entire support team was fantastic – cook Raj, assistant cook Anand, and our Yak guy Pemba. They all added to the experience in meaningful ways. A huge highlight was the food, which was consistently delicious and energizing – it played a big part in keeping our spirits high throughout the trek. We were honestly amazed by the quality and variety, especially given the remote mountain setting. Overall, this team was professional, attentive, and genuinely dedicated to making sure we had an amazing time. We wholeheartedly recommend this company to anyone looking to explore the beauty of the Himalayas. We’re already looking forward to our next trek with them!

We did the Kang Yatse 2 trek with Himalayan High and we were more than pleased about the care they have for the people. Montu was a really awesome guide and all the team from the chef, the boys that helped and everybody took so much care about us to feel comfortable. The food was awesome(we even had pizza and french fries some times), the tents and sleeping bags(we never felt cold at night), the toiletts, athmosphere and everything exceeded my expectations.

I climbed Kang Yatse 1 with Himalayan High and honestly it was one of the best trips of my life. Being a solo female traveller I was nervous about the trip beforehand but I was so well looked after by the team at Himalayan High that my concerns faded very quickly. The first week of this trip was a rotation between different acclimatization walks in Leh and a homestay in Rumbak, which was absolutely beautiful and I really enjoyed having these experiences as part of my acclimatization journey because the experience then wasn't just about reaching the summit. The second week was spent at basecamp with rotations to camp 1 and summit camp. This bit was really well thought out to ensure I was acclimatized and ready for summit but also really adapted to my needs and the spare summit day was absolutely crucial to what I needed. The team who looked after me at base camp were absolutely amazing. Because I was travelling alone I really felt we got to know eachother really well and I left with some lovely new friends. I was so well fed for the whole trip - the food was always absolutely delicious and plentiful! The water situation was also perfect - the water was boiled and treated before I got it. I cannot fault Himalayan High - everything was thought about, I felt so safe and well looked after at all times and I had so much fun on this trip with the team and learned SO much from them. I would definitely not hesitate to book with Himalayan High again- in fact I will probbaly do another trip with them in the not-too-distant future.

        Activity & Acclimatization Goals

        • Morning breakfast initiates a day of structured activity.

        • Total activity duration: Approx. 5 hours; distance: 5 km (round trip).
        • Goal: Stimulate red blood cell production safely before moving higher.

        Himalayan High Safety & Support

        • "Listen to your body" is our key safety mantra; guides enforce this strictly.

        Quick Tips For The Day:

        • Day 3 involves an innovative "active rest" day. We use a scenic drive to one of the world's highest motorable passes to passively expose your body to significantly higher altitude before returning to Leh's lower elevation to rest. This strategy drastically improves acclimatization efficiency.

          Passive Acclimatization Strategy

          • Scenic drive from Leh to Khardung La and back (approx. 4-5 hours total).
          • Goal: Expose the body to altitudes exceeding 5,300m for short duration, then sleep low.
          • This strategy is a cornerstone of effective high-altitude acclimatization planning.
          • Minimizes physical exertion while maximizing physiological adaptation responses.

          Views & Exploration

          • Stunning panoramic views of the Zanskar and Karakoram ranges from the pass.
          • Brief stop at the famous Khardung La Top for photos and mountain vistas.
          • Experience the unique environment of one of the world's highest accessible points.

          Himalayan High Execution & Safety

          • Private, comfortable vehicles used for safe and efficient travel.
          • Guides monitor health during the short period at high altitude.
          • Strict instructions to stay hydrated and move slowly while at the pass.
          • Return to the your trekking roadhead in Rumtse for a restful evening and local hospitality

            • Total travel time is approximately 7 hours, balancing driving and steady hiking.

            Wilderness Execution & Comfort

            • Our professional crew moves ahead to have your comfortable campsite fully established before you arrive.
            • Experience the luxury of "arrival tea"—hot beverages and snacks waiting at your tent.

            • High-quality, freshly prepared wilderness meals served in our dedicated dining tents.

            Expectations & Meticulous Planning

            • A critical "stepping stone" day that tests your body’s response to sleeping above 4,500m.
            • Breathtaking views of the high-altitude desert and the unique purple-hued Ladakhi mountains.
            • Guided pace control: our Guides ensure you walk at a "pressure-breathing" pace to conserve energy.

            Quick Tips For The Day:

            • Today is a significant milestone as we trek above 5,000 meters to establish our High Base Camp. This move is essential for positioning ourselves efficiently for the summit push. We focus on a short, high-quality trek with careful execution to manage the extreme altitude gain.

              The Ascent & Daily Goals

              • Trek from Danglas Chan (4,610m) to the UT Kangri Base Camp (5,200m).
              • A vertical gain of nearly 600 meters requires a deliberate, slow pace.
              • Trek duration is manageable (4-5 hours) to ensure arrival with energy reserves intact.
              • Goal: Establish position at high altitude while conserving energy for subsequent climbing days.

              High Altitude Execution & Safety

              • Sherpa guides and expedition leaders intensely monitor all trekkers' health signs upon arrival at 5,200m.
              • Campsite selected meticulously by our experts to offer maximum wind protection and safety.
              • Comfortable, well insulated high-altitude tents provide necessary warmth in extreme conditions.
              • We carry comprehensive medical kits and immediate emergency evacuation protocols, if required, are in place.

              Views & Base Camp Life

              • Enjoy immediate, breathtaking views of the surrounding 6,000m+ peaks surrounding the camp.
              • The remote, untouched wilderness provides excellent photographic opportunities of the high-altitude landscape.
              • Afternoon dedicated to hydration, rest, and final preparation of technical climbing gear.
              • Evening briefing covers the strategy for the following day’s preparatory climbs or rest days.

              Quick Tips For The Day:

              • Day 6 is a high-altitude "buffer" day at 5,200m, essential for physiological recovery and technical readiness. We focus on sharpening your climbing skills while allowing your body to produce the necessary red blood cells for the final push to 6,000m+.

                Technical Training & Skills

                • Hands-on training with technical gear: crampons, ice axes, and ascending devices.
                • Practical session on fixed-rope techniques and glacier walking safety.
                • Brief 3km movement around camp to keep muscles active without overexertion.
                • Personalized coaching by our certified Sherpas to ensure your technique is summit-ready.

                Strategic Acclimatization

                • Full day spent at Base Camp (5,200m) to consolidate your body's adaptation.
                • Pulse oximeter checks twice daily to track your oxygen saturation levels.
                • Passive rest strategy: moving little, hydrating much, and sleeping well.
                • Meticulous planning ensures you are not "burned out" before the summit attempt.

                Preparation & Support

                • Final audit of summit-day layers, ensuring your down suit and boots are optimized.
                • Detailed briefing on the summit route, turnaround times, and safety protocols.
                • Premium high-calorie nutrition served to fuel your body for the heavy output ahead.

                • This is the definitive moment of your expedition. After meticulous preparation, we launch our summit bid for UT Kangri (6,050m). We utilize an alpine-style approach, starting in the pre-dawn hours to ensure we reach the peak and return safely before the weather transitions in the afternoon.

                  The Summit Push & Goals

                  • Midnight/Early morning departure to take advantage of stable, frozen snow conditions.
                  • Push from Base Camp (5,200m) to the UT Kangri Summit (6,050m), a 11km round trip.
                  • Estimated duration of 8-9 hours requires peak physical and mental endurance.
                  • Goal: Successfully stand atop a 6,000m+ Himalayan peak with a safe, controlled descent.

                  Technical Terrain & Views

                  • Navigate moderate glacial slopes and potentially fixed-rope sections near the ridge.
                  • Breathtaking 360-degree views of the Karakoram Range and the vast Tibetan plateau.
                  • Experience the raw beauty of the Ladakh wilderness from the highest point of the massif.
                  • Spectacular sunrise views over the jagged Himalayan horizon during the ascent.

                  Safety & Elite Execution

                  • 1:2 or 1:1 Sherpa-to-client ratio to ensure maximum safety and personalized support.
                  • Strict "Turnaround Time" (TAT) enforced to ensure every climber is back in camp before dark.
                  • Constant radio communication between the summit team and Base Camp support.
                  • Expedition-grade medical oxygen and emergency kits carried by the lead Sherpa at all times.
